Between January 9 and 13, Christin Calixte, Coordinator of the Haitian Civil Society Platform on Climate Change, came to Washington DC as part of a high level Haitian delegation which included the Minister of Environment. The delegation aimed to raise awareness of the effects of climate change, environmental degradation, the impact on food security and the urgent need for climate finance.

Haitian civil society organisations play a critical role in raising awareness of these challenges.  The Haitian Civil Society Platform on Climate Change  advocates throughout the country public education, civil society engagement, increased climate awareness, as well as for policy change and climate justice in international negotiations.

Listen to Christin outline – in French and Kreyol – Haiti’s climate and environmental challenges and the role of Haitians everywhere in facing them.
